Why “Silver Labs 3D”?

The name Silver Labs 3D brings together two important parts of this journey: our home maker-space "lab" and our silver Labrador Retriever, Sky.

"Silver" is a nod to Sky’s unique coat color — the result of a recessive gene combination affecting the traditional chocolat color. While debatable in some circles, silver Labs, along with red Labs and white Labs can be registered as purebred Labs. To honor these loyal companions, we offer a number of pet related items patterned after these six Labrador coat colors.

 "Labs" also has a double meaning: yes, labradors retrievers of course, but also the idea of a creative, experimental maker-space — the kind of lab where ideas are tested, tweaked, and brought to life. It's also a token the precision with which a 3D printer can create with - layer by layer.
